S.A.Technology is contracted to perform the design, fabrication, installation, and related construction activities that will allow the K East (105-KE) reactor core to be demolished. The 105-KE Reactor Core Disposal Project will remove and dispose of the reactor core by size reduction and compliant packaging in approved waste containers for disposal at the Hanford Department of Energy (DOE) Environmental Restoration Disposal Facility (ERDF).The end point of the project is that the core (including thermal shield) will be removed to the point that standard demolition techniques can take place for the balance of the reactor building.
