Mork Glovebox Drum Lift System

Waste Drum Lift System
S.A.Technology completed a contract with Washington TRU Solutions to provide equipment to aid in the repackaging of CH-TRU waste. The equipment is to be used in conjunction with a mobile repackaging system. 55 and 85-gallon drums containing radioactive waste that must be repackaged in order to meet waste acceptance criterion are placed in the S.A.Technology Waste Drum Lift, which rotates and vertically and horizontally translates the drum into position to be emptied into a repackaging containment.

Daughter Drum Lift System
The S.A.Technology Drum Handling & Lifting System vertically translates empty drums into place to be packaged with the contents of the drum in the Waste Drum Lift. The lifts have a capacity to lift 1000 lb barrels. The units are remotely operated with safety locks to ensure accidental opening of the gripper jaws does not occur. All components in the lifts are seismically rated.
Initially the Drum Handling & Lifting System was shipped to Carlsbad, NM to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) and currently deployed at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC.
The design and fabrication was completed under the S.A.Technology NQA-1 Program. This equipment was delivered on a firm fixed price with an accelerated schedule.
