Bechtel CO2 Storage Vessel Equipment
Bechtel CO2 Storage Vessel Equipment
S.A.Technology has designed and built a CO2s torage vessel and refrigeration unit for Bechtel National, Inc., to support the LAW verification facility Carbon Dioxide Gas (CDG) System. This equipment provides storage of liquid CO2, functions as a remote vessel filling station, delivers liquid CO2 to pelletizers, forms solid CO2 pellets, and pneumatically transfers the pellets to the decontamination cave for the decontamination of filled and sealed immobilized low activity waste containers.
Equipment and Work Description:
- One horizontal, saddle mounted, liquid carbon dioxide storage vessel, complete with refrigeration unit, anti-sweat insulation, pressure relief devices, instruments, nozzle isolation valves, and piping between refrigeration unit and vessel.
- One liquid carbon dioxide remote vessel filling station, complete with safety features and instruments, and four recirculation and delivery pumps complete with skid piping.
- All necessary valves, instruments, strainers, pressure relief devices, and components to install all associated equipment.
- Designed to separately deliver liquid CO2 and gas CO2 to two locations within the LAW verifications facility.
- Piping system designs included pump sizing calculations, line sizing calculations, stress, and support calculations for piping.
- The vessel will be used to receive and store liquid CO2 while it is being continuously re-circulated and used by the pelletizers.
- S.A.Technology is responsible for the technical adequacy of the design furnished, including constructability, reliability, operability, and maintainability.
