Toole Mustard Gas Sampling Gloveboxes


The Tooele Army Depot located in Utah stockpiles thousands of munitions including bombs, land mines and a one-ton storage container loaded with nerve gas and blister agents. It was discovered that the incinerator used to destroy the deadly compounds was leaking. These leaking munitions had to be specifically double-packed until they could be destroyed.
S.A.Technology was tasked with designing and building a sampling system for Mustard Agent ton containers in two igloo used to house the deadly chemical. Engineering designs were based on economic analysis, resistance to fluid corrosive factors and loading factors. SAT provided six shielded gloveboxes, a sampling system, and a container handling system to remotely sample the mustard gas storage containers.
