Bechtel Transport Bogie
S.A.Technology is to build a transport cart with rails and spacer shim to transport a melter in and out of the HLW melter cave at the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant. The cart is approximately 17’ square and about 3’ high and will weigh approximately 100,000 lbs. It will carry a load of 420 tons or 840,000 lbs. It is going to be hydraulically driven on six Hillman rollers and should only be used twice every 5 years for replacement of the melter. This project will require SAT to greatly expand our capabilities in heavy fabrication.

S.A.Technology in the Community
VEX Robotics Competition
The VEX Robotics Competition is designed for Middle & High school aged students. There are many competitions held in different states and countries.
This year’s robotic VEX competition is called Clean Sweep; each year the students have a different objective to the game. At the beginning of the school year the kids learn the object of the game and design their robots accordingly. Their start there design with a clean sheet of paper and design their robots with only VEX parts. Here is a link for the game details on VEX web site CLEAN SWEEP CHALLENGE.
We hosted the Berthoud High Robotics team and the Bill Reed middle school robotics teams at S.A.Technology to have a scrimmage with their robots.
PIE Cave Powered Remote Manipulator (PRM)

S.A.Techology has won a contract to deliver a Powered Remote Manipulator (PRM) and Control System for the DMTR PIE Cave at the Dounreay site in the UK. The PRM standard configuration includes 6 degrees of freedom with gripper actuation and tool handling capabilities. The PRM joints are modular in nature, allowing for additions or reconfigurations to accommodate varying layouts and operating requirements. This is an exciting project for S.A.Technology as the PRM continues to prove itself as a leading manipulator in its class.
